With so many hair vendors and manufactures across China and India its hard to tell who really has good hair. Everyone guarantees that they supply the best hair on the market, but how can you tell? Below are a few tips to help determine the quality of your hair. Lets make sure your investment is money well spent!!
1. Check to see if the cuticles are intact.
Hair that has not been chemically processed will have the cuticles present on the hair strands. If you check for cuticles and the cuticles are not there, this means the cuticles have been stripped from the hair usually through the process of an acid bath. To feel for hair cuticle, run your fingers up and down the hair shaft. The hair strand should feel smooth going downwards towards the direction of hair growth, however you should feel some resistance as you move your fingers in the opposite direction. This resistance signifies the cuticle is present and has not been stripped.
2. The Fire Test.
To really check if the hair you purchased is really human, take a few strands of the hair and use a lighter to burn the hair from the tips. If the hair is 100% Human it should fully burn and leave no residue other than ashes and have a white smoke as it burns. If the hair has any foreign fibers in it, the smoke will be black and the remaining fibers will be sticky and will later harder after it cools. This is a sure way to tell if you bought Quality Virgin Hair extensions.
3.Check for Chemical Residue.
Want to see if your hair has been permed, dyed or treated with chemicals? With warm water, use a neutralizing shampoo and wash the the hair. As the hair lathers, if any pink appears within the suds, it indicates that the hair has been chemically processed. Sometimes this test doesn't provide full proof results because the manufacture could have pre-washed the hair and removed the presence of chemical residue but it may help you.
